April 21,

We will bid Asia goodbye tis week and focus on our turn of the century studies in American History. We are finishing up our monologues this week which I hope to will be podcasted. Our rehearsals will begin this week and children will have a CD to listen to and sing along with and lines to learn.
Our reading contract will center around the play and our usual skill building items will continue to accompany the more unusual items on our learning menu.
Eyes will be heavy with late night sleep changes. Please try to get them to bed as early as possible.
Thank you to parents who have volnteered to help with the play or help with field trips or both! Wow!
I hope our year culminates with lots of good memories of our time together in this special learning community the children have created.

Weather Report
The melting snow creates puddles, wet shoes and  wet trousers for the afternoon make for a sopping mess. Ask your child to bring home their winter gear and replace it with rubber boots or bring an extra pair of trousers if theirs gets wet.

Please make sure the children get enough sleep and a good breakfast everyday not only on testing days.

Mrs. B has the children working on the scientific method. Please ask your children about this project.

I am reading a Russell Freedman's trade book on the life of Confucius. the students are learning about his life and his philosophy. His wise sayings are being used as writing prompts for reflective writing.

Our play this year will be Annie, a Broadway Junior musical. More details to come. Casting may be next week!
